The Withering refers to a apocalyptic event in Earth's history, occurring roughly 200 years prior to the events of Kamikaze. A pandemic wiped out nearly all the plant life on the planet in a matter of months with devastating consequences. With a few exceptions, plant life has not recovered in the two centuries since the disaster. The city-state of Trinity was founded during the fallout of the Withering.
